YD and I spent 3 days exploring Ha Long Bay and had a wonderful time from start to finish. The bay is beautiful - it includes 1,967 limestone islands (approximately) and multiple pearl fisheries.
The second night, we stayed on Cat Ba Island and rode bikes through gorgeous valleys and the forest. I loved it! We visited a second cave with bats, and did a nature hike as well. We hung out with an American FedEx pilot who lives in Hong Kong and two Dutch girls who are on break before they start their masters in Holland.
After Ha Long Bay, we stayed one night in Hanoi and joined a group going to Sapa, which is almost on the border to China. More photos and updates to come shortly!
